The development directions clearly show that the potential of light-curing adhesives for further development has not been completely exploited yet. Even the light-curing acrylates, which have already been used for several decades, consistently offer new opportunities for optimization. And with their age of not even 20 years, the radiation-curing epoxy adhesives are still far away from the zenith of their technical possibilities. Apart from the concepts mentioned above, further, very promising development approaches can be found in the laboratories of the adhesive manufacturers, for example, light-curing adhesives with high temperature stability or new methods for the sensitization of photoinitiators in order to be able to utilize larger wavelength ranges for curing.
